Be role models to your children.
You might be very much attentive to your children’s physical and intellectual growth
But how much attentive are you towards their emotional growth?
Here most of the parents fail… Will you?
- Accept your child for what he is, not what you want him to be.
- Be consistent in your behaviour towards the child.
- Criticise the deed, never the does, that is the child.
- Do Activities together as a family.
- Encourage sibling harmony by not comparing them.
- Follow through if you make threats.
- Gifts can never be a substitute for your presence.
- Hitting teaches your child to hit others.
- Instill values in the child by being a role model.
- Joy of eating together at least one meal helps in bonding.
- Keep increasing freedom as your child becomes responsible.
- Love your child completely and unconditionally.
- Motivate your child with praise instead of criticism.
- Negotiating with your child is not a sign of weakness.
- Offer suggestions but let your child make the decision.
- Participate in events which are important for your child
- Quit labelling children as “naughty boy” or “clumsy girl”.
- Restrict television, videos and computers games.
- Spend time with your child without diversions.
- Teach your child that choices have consequences.
- Use bedtime to discuss what happened during the day.
- Visualise what qualities you want in your child as an adult.
- Work out a routine and follow it through.
- Excite the child’s interest in books by providing material.
- Your child needs limits to make him/her feel secure.
- Zestful fun of the child’s short comings lowers his self esteem.
